Our team took part in the thematic session “Ripensare insieme lo spazio pubblico nelle aree marginali” during the VIII Biennial of Public Space, held in Rome, Italy, on September 19, 2025.

From 18 to 20 September 2025, the Biennale Spazio Pubblico Association, with the Roma 3 University, Istituto Nazionale di urbanistica (INU), and INU Lazio, organised the VIII Biennial of Public Space in Rome, held at the Architecture Department of the Roma 3 University. The event entitled Insieme | Together | Juntos and combined thematic sessions, exhibitions, and book presentations to reflect on, discuss, and engage in the design of public space.

 

On September 19, 2025, Alice Buoli and Valentina Rodani joined the thematic session “Rethinking public space together in marginal areas,” co-chaired by Romina D’Ascanio (Università Roma Tre) and Antonio Bocca (Università di Camerino).

 

The conference panel focused on the forms of design and planning that aim to rethink public spaces and collective practices in marginal areas, small municipalities, and territorial peripheries. Our team presented a reflection entitled Toward a cross-border public space? The “borderless” narratives of GO!2025. The contribution questioned the conception and the socio-spatial process of production of public space in a cross-border context through urban planning policies and urban design, grounding the critical reading in the case of GO!Borderless Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025.
