Our team travelled to the southern part of the Italo-French border from July 15 to 19, 2024. The Fieldwork report is now released.

First hand observations, informal meetings and interactions, and semi-structured interviews with local stakeholders have been organized and performed on-site during the fieldwork mission in the High Valleys region, focusing on the area comprised between the Susa Valley (IT), the Maurienne Valley (FR), Briançon (FR) and the Mont Cenis Pass (FR).

The aim was to understand how local communities reacted to the recent polycrisis at stake (as environmental challenges, the high migratory flow, the construction of the Turin-Lyon high-speed rail and more) and shed light on coping strategies and synergies activated by alliances of local stakeholders and citizens to provide bottom-up and/or institutional responses. Most of the agenda was left to spontaneous explorations and meeting opportunities, maintaining flexibility and openness.
