Our team participated in the 35th Annual International Geographical Congress, which took place in Dublin from August 24th to 30th, 2024. The conference was organized by the Geographical Society of Ireland and the International Geographical Union, and hosted by the Dublin City University.

The 2024 International Geographical Congress, entitled “Celebrating a World of Difference”, seeks to celebrate the strength of diversity as a tool to encompass the complex interconnections between people, place and the natural world, and foster global action in response to common challenges. Raffaella Coletti presented the paper “Cross-border cooperation and resilience in Italian border regions” with some early insights from the project focusing on the responses to the polycrisis observed in the three case studies.

The paper contributes to the session “Future Earth: Resilience in border regions in times of multiple crises: conceptual and empirical reflections”, moderated by Julia Dittel. The track seeks to investigate from a multidisciplinary perspective the resilience of border regions in light of the contemporary polycrisis, analysing their ability to withstand disruptive events, adapt to changing circumstances, and undergo long-term transformations.
